Robert is a senior instructor at the Dayton Bujinkan. He started training in martial arts in 1982 and began Bujinkan in 1994. He has traveled to Japan multiple times to train at the Bujinkan Honbu and with the Shihan at their dojos. He received jugodan in 2016 and has been given Yushuu Shihan and Dai Shihan certificates by Soke Hatsumi. He also earned a Kyosei rank in Tenshin Ryu kenjutsu (non-Bujinkan).
